HOUSEKEEPING
?
How can keeping a neat, tidy and organized workplace help
you work better?
!
Proper housekeeping can increase work efficiency and reduce
the risk of injuries on the job site.
Prevention Points
Incidents are less likely to occur if we maintain a neat, clean, tidy
and organized workplace and customers' worksites.
Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on
page 11 before performing any task.
Present yourself in a safe and professional manner at all times.
Organize your worksite by storing all tools and equipment safely
and properly.
Place all debris and waste in the appropriate waste collection.
Get in the habit of laying rakes with forks down, shovels blade
down, pruners in holsters and other tools in one area on the
job site.
Equipment, vehicles and tools must be kept clean and maintained.
Reduce, re-use and recycle wherever possible.
Metal strapping on palletized materials should be neatly trimmed
to avoid a tripping hazard.
Walkways should always be kept as neat, dry and slip resistant
as possible.
Refer to the company's policy and procedures for further details, key
responsibilities and required actions. Housekeeping requirements
can be found in R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851 s.11 under the OHSA.
ACTION!
Do a walk about with your crew to show them a properly organized and
tidy work site operation.
