When employees are struggling, it is important to know how to
have meaningful conversations about suicide, know how to provide
support and resources and bring hope to someone who may be
struggling. Use the Mental Health Commission of Canada Suicide
Prevention in the Workplace guide to navigate those difficult
conversations. It offers tips and resources for your own mental
health, as well as the mental health of employers, managers and
co-workers who are looking to show support and respond to the
topic of suicide.
The City of Toronto has created a helpful resource for both
managers and employees who have been involved in a critical
incident. The management guide contains information to assist
managers and supervisors to effectively respond to a critical
incident, and the employee guide assists employees who have
experienced a critical incident in the workplace. Use these
resources as a guideline to help implement your own critical
incident response plan.
