SECTION 4: FIRST AID MEASURES
This section provides essential information on actions to be taken immediately
if a person is adversely exposed or affected by the hazardous product. Prompt
first aid is important for minimizing injury, disability, or death.
4.1 Description of First Aid Measures
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air and keep victim at rest in a
comfortable breathing position. If not breathing, provide
artifical respiration. If breathing is difficult, trained personnel
should provide oxygen. Call a physician.
Skin Contact: Immediately flush affected areas with water
for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and
shoes. Call a physician. Wash clothing before reuse.
Eye Contact: Rinse with water for several minutes. Remove
contact lenses if present. Immediately flush eyes thoroughly
with water for at least 15 minutes. Hold eyelids open and
away from eyeballs to ensure all surfaces are flushed.
Contact an eye specialist immediately.
Ingestion: Give two glasses of water and induce vomiting.
Immediately call a POISON CENTRE and/or physician.
This area provides instructions to be taken in the event a person breathes
in (inhales), has skin or eye contact, or swallows (ingests) the hazardous
product.
Inhalation is the most common route for hazardous products to enter the
body.
