Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs)
Automotive manufacturing workers often perform
repetitive tasks and handle heavy machinery or
materials, which can lead to strain and injury. Poor
workstation design and awkward postures further
contribute to the development of MSDs. These hazards
are common in the industry, resulting in a high number
of work-related injuries.
MSDs when not treated and addressed early, can lead
to lifelong disabilities. Employers face substantial costs
for medical treatment and compensation for affected
workers in addition to decreased productivity due to
absenteeism and reduced work efficiency.
Addressing these challenges requires ergonomic
assessments, worker training, and the implementation
of automation and assistive technologies.
