Over 44,000 workers are injured from fall accidents every year
in Canada, 17,000 of which are in Ontario. Fatalities occur every
year because of workplace falls, and one in every five lost-
time injury claims in Ontario is caused by a fall (WSPS, 2022;
CCOHS, 2024).

Avoid working at heights as much as possible. All workers are
required to be properly trained to use fall arrest equipment
before use.
Prevention Points
Only workers who have acquired the knowledge, training,
experience and understanding of the laws should be allowed to
perform this task. It is the employer's duty to ensure the worker is
competent in all aspects of the required tasks of the job. Review

before performing any task.
