Use a rope pulley system to lift a chainsaw, if operating at heights, e.g. trees. Kickback can occur if the end of the chainsaw nose strikes an object. Keep a clear area in front of the chainsaw while cutting. Run the chainsaw at maximum RPM output when cutting and do not reduce the speed until complete. Never leave a running chainsaw unattended. Always store chainsaws with blade cover on to protect the blade and workers. Leg protection must be BNQ/CAN standard (1961.45). ACTION! Demonstrate how to: Properly fuel and start up a chainsaw Safe cutting and carrying procedures Proper way or motion of cutting Before starting: Check for defects and/or repair tags Ensure the chain is tight (minimum tension/slack) Check oil level Be familiar with the controls Practice emergency procedures at each job site
