It is mandatory for all chainsaw operators to take a chainsaw training course before operating a chainsaw in the workplace. Prevention Points Chainsaws are unparalleled for speed and efficiency of completing wood cutting tasks however precautions must be taken to prevent any incidents resulting in injuries: Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 11 before performing any task. Ensure all workers operating a chainsaw avoid wearing loose fitting clothing. Start by holding the saw down on the ground, away from the body, with a sharp pull on the starter. Never drop start the saw.
