What is the most common type of injury related to
stone saws?
!
Cuttng stone or pavement can produce safety and health
hazards causing exposure to flying debris and fine stone dust,
including respirable crystalline silica dust, which can cause
irreversible damage to the lungs. Ensure all recommended
PPE is worn for the job.
Prevention Points
Some suggestions for safe operation are:
Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on
page 11 before performing any task.
Ensure the saw blade is securely in place and rotates freely.
Check all fluids and the filter.
Ensure the material being cut is secure so it does not move
during cutting.
Be conscious of the wind direction and always allow for the dust
to blow away from your body. Use water attachments to reduce
dust on equipment where applicable.
