17 4.8 FATAL AGRICULTURE-RELATED INJURY RUNOVERS (age-standardized), 2011 – 2020 4.9 FATAL AGRICULTURE-RELATED INJURY RUNOVERS BY PERSON, 2011 – 2020 Over the 10-year period from 2011 to 2020, there were 27 machine-related runover fatalities. This equates to 3 deaths each year. Over this time period, the runover fatality rate experienced a statistically significant decrease with an average of 4.9% each year. There were 27 agriculture-related runover fatalities from 2011 to 2020. Alighted operator runovers (unmanned machine) were the most frequent type of fatal runover with 33%. In this kind of injury event, the victim is runover by a vehicle they had left running or unblocked on a slope. Bystander runovers were the second-largest percentage of runover fatalities also accounting for 33%, followed by fallen operator runovers (11%), and passenger / extra rider runovers (19%).
