EMPLOYEES RESISTING RETURN TO OFFICE This year, 44% of employees reported working from home or in a hybrid arrangement and the same number expect to continue doing so for the next twelve months. Most leaders (59%) expect that working from home will continue and feel that commuting to work is a waste of time and energy. Almost the same number believe that forcing employees back to the workplace would cause them to quit. However, only 35% of employees say this is the case. While employers seem to be overestimating the impact, the fact that a third of employees say they would leave can't be ignored. Approximately a third of employers and employees feel that remote work is weakening the culture of their organization. In the article "How do you keep employees connected in a disconnected world?" Weber Shandwick's VP of Human Resources shared that their Canadian CEO believes nothing replaces that in-person experience. However, she says, "We are working with our team to solve this. We're listening. We need to provide great service to clients while considering employees' needs. We're looking for balance and figuring out how we will do our best work together." 9 EMERGING HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES LEADERS AGREE (NET) Commuting wastes time More productive WFH Forced Return to office =Employee Loss Culture is weekend due to WFH 59% 56% 54% 36% EMPLOYEES AGREE (NET) Commuting wastes time More productive WFH Forced Return to office =I will quit Culture is weekend due to WFH 59% 53% 35% 33%
