This may be a result of heightened awareness and vigilance as a result of the pandemic among employers and employees. Both parties are likely more mindful of the need to apply the hazard assessment methodology to a broader range of hazards to ensure they are taking all reasonable precautions. Sadly, the number of incidents of violence, bullying and harassment in the workplace continues to be a significant issue. Employers in Ontario are expected to have a workplace violence program in place that includes a risk assessment and measures to prevent or protect employees from violence. This may be why it is top of mind and made the list of emerging issues.
