TO MANAGE
This tool has been designed around the definition of Material Handling in Regulation 851,
Section 45 and should be used with the aligned instructions. The template and examples
are not exhaustive, and we encourage further research or consultation of appropriate
documents and reference materials.
We have included examples of material handling tasks and locations where they may
commonly be found in a workplace. We have also provided examples of why they pose
a hazard, where more information on hazards can be found on WSPS Resource Hub
pages. We have provided examples of controls and encourage you to use the hierarchy of
controls to layer appropriate controls to manage any given hazard.
