LOADING SECOND FLOOR
Inspect second fl oor load out doors
and load out balconies – if used.
(Folding steel balconies, fi xed steel
balconies and fi xed wood balconies)
(Refer to Appendix C)
Ensure all load out doorways are in good state of repair –
no sharp objects protruding from the frame or building.
Load out balconies (if applicable) are securely fastened
to barn, free of debris and in good state of repair and
support chains or braces properly fastened. Steel side
rails are permanently attached to balconies if balconies
are used.
Catch and pass turkeys
Drive the truck along side the barn as close as possible
to the loading doors, balconies and/or loading platform
(as applicable) without contacting the structure. For
folding balconies, ensure the balcony is level by
adjusting support chains.
Position truck /balconies
Personnel catch turkeys in area and carry them to the
load out door(s) in use. Once on the balcony, pass birds
to personnel working on the loading platform.
Moving truck
When all birds adjacent to load out door(s) in use have
been loaded, remove side rails and secure balcony (if
necessary), close and secure load out door.
Note: Caution should be taken when relocating truck to
not damage the load out balconies.
