Since mental health issues can affect work
performance, it is important to know when and how
to respond. Each person is different, but here are a
few examples of what you may see at work *,†,‡:
EMOTIONAL SIGNS
Mood swings, irritability,
easily frustrated and
tearful
PHYSICAL SIGNS
Untidy appearance, tired,
low energy (or excessive
energy)
SOCIAL SIGNS
Very sensitive to criticism,
irritable, avoiding
interactions with others

Difficulty following
instructions, problems
