Health and Safety Consultant, Jay is a stout safety advocate. From his early days as a corn detassler at the age of ten, to summers spent working on a farm during his university year’s, Jay’s immersive introduction to the agriculture sector gave him a keen understanding of the importance of safety and the meaning of hard labour.

I can relate to the unique challenges this sector faces, the adaptability and flexibility required to be successful. As a result of first-hand experience, I’ve been fortunate to build strong relationships over the past 20 plus years.

Jay’s safety knowledge runs the gamut with competent knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Farming Regulations with a focus on greenhouse operations. He is a strong advocate for industry concerns and inspired by interactions with both new, young workers and temporary foreign agricultural workers. Highly regarded for his expertise in this sector, Jay was the Lead Consultant on the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers Health and Safety Manual, the Chapter Lead of the Agricultural Safety Groups Chapter for 8 years – the only sector-specific WSIB Safety Groups Chapter and served as subject matter expert for the development of COVID 19 resources with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA).
