Occupational diseases are the leading cause of worker deaths. Every year, there are approximately four times more deaths from occupational disease than traumatic fatalities. Occupational illnesses may result from acute and long-term exposures to hazardous chemical agents in the workplace. Controlling these exposures will help lower the risk of workers developing an occupational illness. The Ministry of Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) is conducting two Occupational Hygiene Campaigns (April 1, 2024 - March 31, 2025) to raise awareness and boost compliance on the key occupational hygiene issues: Worker exposures to chemical agents in the workplace WHMIS training based on the amended Hazardous Products Regulations To support MLITSD's campaigns, this document provides links to practical tools and resources, such as best practice guides, checklists, and training options, to help businesses implement and maintain effective health and safety practices.
