While not typically fatal, power tools such as saws, drills, nail guns, sanders, etc., can cause severe enough injuries to take you away from the job. Prevention Points Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 11 before performing any task. All power tools must be sharpened, have proper electrical grounding, and in good working condition at all times. Disengage all power sources before cleaning or maintaining equipment. Check the electrical cord regularly for cuts or wear. Keep the cord behind you at all times to avoid clipping it. Leave enough slack for normal work motion. Use both hands to hold and guide tools.
