What noise level is safe to work with for 8 hours continuously without protection? (Answer: 85 decibels (dBA) but leaf blowers operate at a much higher noise level which require hearing protection at all times) ! Leaf blowers present a thrown object hazard which can hit the operator and innocent bystanders. Prevention Points Always plan your work before you use a leaf blower. Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 11 before performing any task. Always start and run in an upright position and operate the unit at the lowest possible throttle to do the required job. (never operate without tubing) Stay clear of the hot muffler; it can melt synthetic fleece to skin or catch clothing on fire.
