Secure and seal fuels safely when being transported.
Store fuels outside.
Do not fill portable gas containers in the back of pickup
truck lined with bed liner. This poses the risk of a static
electricity explosion.
Bulk fuel storage tanks require concrete sill containment
under the tank. (Consult fuel supplier for spill
containment requirements.)
Gas
When fuelling machines, keep away from plant material
or any porous surfaces.
Avoid filling a gasoline tank on a vehicle or equipment
completely to the top, heat causes gasoline to expand and
fire can result if it spills over the hot engine.
Propane
Dispose of damaged or corroded propane cylinders or
appliances by giving them to a propane dealer.
If you notice a foul smell (similar to rotten eggs); immediately
close the cylinder or supply valve – this indicates a leak. Stop
using the equipment until you have found and corrected the
source of the leak.
Transport and store cylinders and tanks secured in an upright
position in a ventilated space, away from ignition sources (so
relief valve is in contact with vapour space of cylinder or tank).
ACTION!
Demonstrate the proper
refuelling technique
using gasoline.
