Pruners can cause serious cuts or amputations if misused – take the time and care to use the equipment safely and appropriately for each task. Prevention Points Pruners include hand pruners, shears, hand saws, loppers, pole pruners and pole saws. You may also include hedge trimmers in this category. Landscapers are not qualified to prune around electrical power lines and must follow the "limits of approach" as defined by the Ontario Regulation 213/91 s. 188 (2). Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 11 before performing any task. Pruning tools should always be sharp, lubricated and in good working condition.
