What types of pesticides do you come across in your workplace? Where do you find information about pesticides? ! Extreme care must be taken as these goods are poisonous and can cause a fatality if misused. Be sure to wash hands before eating, smoking, or going to the washroom. Prevention Points To sell or apply chemicals (lawn care, etc.) one requires a provincial license and must comply with legislation. All growers require a grower certificate to purchase and use higher risk pesticides. When working with pesticides consider: Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 11 before performing any task. Review spill procedures and follow all label instructions. Ensure all appropriate signs are posted. Ensure all chemicals are secure and contained even when being transported in vehicles. All empty containers should be disposed of according to the label and/or Ministry of Environment regulations. Refer to the Pesticides Act, O. Reg. 63/09, for further details.
