Public Safety: Ensure all people, pets, possessions, and property
remain outside of the safe working area.
Seatbelts: Seatbelts should be properly functioning and worn
at all times when using equipment with a roll-over protective
structure (ROPS) in place.
Substances/Medications/Illnesses: Operating equipment under
the influence of alcohol, drugs or medications and illness is
dangerous and unacceptable.
Supervision: Ensure appropriate supervision is always available to
clarify the details of the job or concerns which may arise.
Three Point Contact: Always use a minimum three-point contact
(three limbs of your body in direct contact with the ladder –
two feet/one hand, two hands/one foot) when climbing
(e.g. ladders). Ensure you have proper footing at all times.
Traffic Control: Effective traffic control will keep traffic moving at
reduced speeds in work areas without delays while work proceeds
safely and efficiently.
Training: Only workers who have acquired the knowledge,
training, experience and understanding of the equipment and
laws should be allowed to perform certain tasks. All operators
should be familiar with the equipment's operator manual.
Warm Ups: Regularly warm up muscles by doing stretches
and light exercises prior to, during and post work activities.
Work Refusal: Workers have the right to refuse work they
reasonably believe can endanger themselves or others.
