LANDSCAPE ONTARIO – WORKPLACE SAFETY TAILGATE TALKS 134 © 2026, WSPS.CA When connecting hoses together, always use the male connector on the pressurized side of the hose. Consider mounting hoses to fixed structures with a retractable mechanism; this makes the hose lighter to handle and will ensure they are recoiled properly after use. Leaky connections should be fixed immediately to avoid slippery surfaces, algae growth and water wastage. Housekeeping requirements can be found in R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851 s.11 under the OHSA. ACTION! Show your crew members the proper way to use and store a water hose at the jobsite.
