LANDSCAPE ONTARIO – WORKPLACE SAFETY TAILGATE TALKS 108 © 2026, WSPS.CA Avoid using the equipment on steep slopes. Use extreme caution when clearing snow from mild slopes, especially when changing direction. Always clear up and down the incline, not across it. Be alert when clearing snow near traffic – don't turn your back to traffic! Keep hands and feet away from all moving parts. – Never put your hands inside the snow blower chute for any reason. If the chute becomes clogged, disengage the power, wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop and then clear the chute using a stick. Never run, when using a snow blower. Only walk. Always be sure of your footing and keep a firm grip on the handles. Never operate a snow blower without good visibility or light. ACTION! Show your crew members the proper way to use the snow blower specific to the task at hand.
