These, and any other safety concerns, should be immediately brought to their supervisor. This is the first step in the work refusal process and a crucial one to keep your teen and their coworkers safe from harm. Help your teen stand up for their safety. Tell them to be on the lookout for these health and safety red flags. Learn more by visiting WSPS.ca/first-job All workers in Ontario can legally refuse unsafe work, without being fired or punished. Still, knowing your rights and standing up for them are two very different things. Especially when it's your first job. There are no workplace violence and harassment policies. You haven't received training. Machines are missing safety guards. You are asked to use damaged equipment.
