Key things to remember when organizing work:
1. Ensure workers have the physical space
to position themselves safely for manual
handling tasks without obstructions.
Workers should be able to work in
neutral position, without twisting the
back and neck, or reaching far out from
the body or overhead.
2. Review storage practices to ensure that
materials are stored securely and can be
removed and stored safely. The heaviest
and most frequently accessed items
should be stored between chest and
thigh height so they can be accessed
easily. Try to avoid storing heavy items
on the highest and lowest shelves.

3. Ensure workers know how to lift materials safely, including understanding how to
maintain neutral position and lift using their leg and glute muscles. Train workers
on safe lifting techniques, monitor and reinforce safe lifting practices.
