Three Basic Rights Starting a job? Here's what you've got to know. 3 essential rights you should know as a worker: The Right to Participate 2 Want to make a difference? Ask about becoming a Health and Safety Representative, or joining your Joint Health & Safety Committee at work. You can also participate in the health and safety program by reporting hazards and offering suggestions for solutions. How? The Right to Know 1 Do you feel that something you're about to do is unsafe? Or that you don't have the proper training to use a tool or piece of equipment? Ask your manager or supervisor about it! How? 3 The Right to Refuse Unsafe Work See something you think may be unsafe? Or does your gut tell you there's something wrong? Listen to your gut. Say something to your supervisor right away. If you need some additional support, ask your Health & Safety Representative or worker member of the JHSC. Their name(s) and work location should be posted on your workplace's Health & Safety Board.
