It held its position as third on the list of health and safety drivers behind caring for employees and compliance. Approximately 40% of respondents in Proactive and Leading organizations said leaders drive the conversation for improvement in their workplaces, and 32% of Managing and Reactive respondents said the same. The number dropped to 24% in Start of Journey organizations. The adage "where attention goes, energy flows" holds true. When senior leaders aren't committed and paying close attention, health and safety suffers. In Start of Journey and Reactive organizations, just over a third of respondents said that lack of leadership support was one of the key challenges in implementing health and safety procedures in their workplace.
