BY THE INDUSTRY, FOR THE INDUSTRY PAGE | 4 BACKGROUND The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) introduced the integrated risk management methodology in 2013 to prevent injuries and illnesses and enhance workplace safety. The methodology is designed to bring experts together, including equal representation from workers and management, to gain a comprehensive understanding of health and safety concerns and to determine effective solutions for the industry. There are two steps to this process: i. a risk assessment workshop to identify the top occupational health and safety risks to workers in the industry ii. a root cause analysis workshop to determine the underlying causal factors of the top identified risk The goal of these workshops is to identify, evaluate, and address potential hazards and their underlying causes. This proactive approach gives subject matter experts in the industry a voice and opportunity to improve health and safety for the industry.
