Position ladder to work
Ensure ladder is positioned to a 4:1 ratio of
vertical height to base distance (Example

Ensure that the feet of the ladder are securely
set on the ground
Ensure that the ladder top is placed squarely
on the tree or limb
Ascend ladder
Utilize work-positioning lanyards as required
Ensure a ground person is available to hold the
ladder during ascent and to warn people away
from the base of the ladder
Secure using Fall Protection
System
While working from a ladder a Fall Protection
System must be used
If climbing further, the life line can be placed into
a suitable branch union from the top of the ladder
