OTHER CHRONIC STRESSORS
AS IDENTIFIED BY EMPLOYEES
While there are 13 Workplace Factors outlined in the National
Standard, organizations should also look at ways to identify and
address other chronic stressors specific to their workplace. These
stressors exist in the way work is organized and employees are
managed, or simply by the higher-stress environments or potentially
traumatic nature of some work. Emerging research shows necessary
focus should be paid to topics such as self-care, social connections
and isolation, and protection from moral distress. In addition, you are
encouraged to engage with employees and determine what stressors,
when addressed, would prevent psychological harm and promote
psychological safety in your workplace.
