4 VISION 2023  |  WSPS 2021 – 2023 STRATEGIC PLAN VISION 2023 President and CEO and Board Chair's Message VISION 2020  |  WSPS 2018 – 2020 STRATEGIC PLAN 1 Driving and responding to change. Staying true to our mission. It is common knowledge that the pace of change in workplaces has continued to accelerate year after year. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in change at a magnitude unequalled in recent history. New businesses are opening, others are struggling, and some are thriving. Many have completely reinvented their business models. Some people are exploring new careers and/or working in ways that present risks they have never experienced before. The pandemic has taught the world that without health and safety, societies cannot effectively function. It is within this turbulent global environment that Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) begins the next phase of its journey, with the guidance of a new strategic plan. This may be a period of tremendous flux, but one thing that isn't changing is our belief that every worker's life is essential. WSPS exists to help the 4.2 million workers in Ontario's agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors live up to their greatest potential by keeping them safe from workplace-related harms and risks. To deliver on this mission, we are committed to developing new ways to reach and connect with more businesses and workers than ever before. Provide world-class OHS prevention and safety expertise – We plan to continually grow our leading-edge expertise, so we can assist businesses with highly complex operations and workplaces that are high risk or have vulnerability factors. Accelerate customer solutions – The digital space is an area where we will invest our focus, with new possibilities for engaging workers, new platforms for virtual service delivery, and many opportunities for providing high quality, easily accessible information to those who need it – in the ways they want to receive it. Create safer workplace cultures – As we go further into the pandemic, there can be no doubt as to the extent of its toll on the mental health of Ontarians. WSPS will lead the way in the integration of psychological and physical risks into occupational health and safety programs, through cultivating partnerships and getting industry leaders on board to drive results. By 2023, many changes will have taken place at WSPS, all in the interest of serving our customers, employees, and communities. However, our commitment to ensuring people get home safe at the end of the workday will never waver. Lynn Brownell President & CEO Marianne Matichuk Board Chair
