Forecasting and executing production were difficult during the pandemic. This
is when we needed our frontline people the most and our commitment to Safety
First shone through. The availability of WSPS' resources and best practices and
access to WSPS Advisory Committees were paramount. Hearing from and sharing
the pandemic journey with other leaders was reassuring. It provided peace of
mind to the business that we are not only compliant but utilizing the best minds
in safety to go above and beyond in keeping our most important asset safe and
secure; our people.

The effects are apparent in the company's reportable incident rate. "At the
beginning of 2020, it was 3.5," says Fortuna, "and now we're down to 0.9."
Working with WSPS has also been a positive experience for Riverside, says
Fortuna. "We've received support at every step in the form of resources and
expertise… it has helped to ensure that the program content meets the specific
needs of our business."
Warehouse Watch
With busy warehouses identified as workplaces at risk for transmission of
COVID-19, WSPS ramped up assistance to manufacturing and service sector
customers with warehouses and distribution centres.
Warehouse safety during the pandemic was also a hot topic at WSPS' Partners
in Prevention Virtual Series in May 2020. WSPS consultants led a popular
session on How Warehouses are Overcoming COVID-19 Challenges: Sharing
Best Practices and Solutions.
Providing warehouse and pandemic safety information to audiences through
article placement in leading industry publications such as Manufacturing
Automation and Inside Logistics was another cornerstone of WSPS'
communication strategy.
