These are often family-operated restaurants and are owned by seniors in the community. Keeping up with evolving requirements, ensuring safe work environments, and sharing updates with employees were key challenges for these businesses. WSPS' e-resources have been our first stop for finding solutions for our members. Additionally, the WSPS newsletter helps our members understand safety plan requirements and available training programs. We are glad that WSPS is always there to help our community and ease our daily operation worries. — CATHERINE HOU, President, Chinese Cuisine and Hospitality Association of Canada WSPS also developed innovative new ways to provide small businesses with timely, critical information: On an ongoing basis, WSPS spreads the safety message through collaboration with prevention system partners, agricultural associations, and community organizations. Here are some pandemic-related examples from 2020/21: Small Business, Big Impact videos: Videos on Health & Safety Orientation, Health & Safety Representative and Violence and Harassment were produced and posted to the WSPS YouTube channel. The videos included guidance on COVID-19 implications in relation to the topics. Small Biz Safety podcast: The first episode of WSPS' inaugural podcast launched in November 2020. On this monthly show, WSPS experts discuss the topics that small businesses want to know about, from COVID-19 to understanding legislation. The episodes received over 1,000 listens in 2020/21, from across Canada, the United States and international locations such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil and Indonesia. WSPS' on-line COVID-19 resources have been invaluable, with the Guidance for Marinas during COVID-19 being particularly helpful. This guidance not only assisted us with developing our own protocols, but, with the support of Boating Ontario, has also ensured some consistency across all marinas. Since marinas are multi-faceted, we also referred to several other guidelines, including cashiers, drivers, office/admin, equipment operators, sales, etc. All guidelines use a consistent format, making it easy for us to identify any potential gaps in our protocols. In addition to the guidelines, we have also utilized many other COVID-19 resources, including checklists, third party resources, questionnaires, and posters. We continue to monitor the WSPS website weekly, as it provides us with an ongoing source of current and reliable information. In these times of uncertainty, our partnership with WSPS is something we are very thankful for. — SALLY SLUMSKIE, Desmasdon's Boat Works, Desmasdon's Construction & Beacon Marine
