WORK PRACTICE
CLEANING SECOND FLOOR
Inspect cleanout openings
(fl oor holes and wall openings)
Elevate cleanout equipment to
second or third fl oor
(See next page for specifi c details on
acceptable elevating options)
Manure cleanout
Second and third fl oor washing
Lower cleanout equipment and
replace fl oor coverings
STEP ACTION
Locate pass through holes and clear litter from over the
fl oor covering.
Remove fl oor panel and secure guard rail system around
clean out hole.
OR
Secure guard rail across sidewall openings.
Use acceptable method to get cleanout tractor on
second fl oor:
■ backing up ramp;
■ winching up ramp;
■ lifted with loader; or
■ overhead lift winch.
Scrape manure with cleanout tractor towards openings.
After all the manure has been removed, pressure wash to
clean all barn surfaces.
Scrape or sweep water towards fl oor openings.
When all cleaning is complete on second or third fl oor:
■ lower cleanout tractor to ground elevation using same
method as above;
■ remove safety guard rail around second/third fl oor
opening; and
■ replace and secure fl oor panel over cleanout hole.
