Health and Safety Representative Training Reimbursements Available for your Small Business
We all know health and safety training is valuable, but did you know there's a training opportunity that actually pays you to attend?

Calling all small business owners! If you regularly employ 6-19 employees, then you could receive reimbursement from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) to train your health and safety representative (HSR).
The MLITSD is offering qualifying businesses $175 for an employee to complete HSR Basic Training (eLearning) between July 15, 2021 and March 31, 2024. The reimbursement covers the $25 course registration fee and provides $150 towards the HSR's training time.

Who qualifies
To qualify for reimbursement, a business must:
- regularly employ 6-19 employees or have a HSR in other circumstances.
- have a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) number.
- keep a copy of the HSR training certificate of completion.
Businesses can apply up to two times, with a second allowance permitted for staff turnover.
Franchises of the same corporation with unique business numbers are also eligible for funding.
How to apply for reimbursement
To obtain the reimbursement, employers must fill out and submit the Small Business Health and Safety Training Program form on Ontario.ca. certificate of completion will be granted upon completion of the HSR Basic Training course. This certificate is required to claim reimbursement.
