COVID-19 is creating unique challenges for agricultural operations. WSPS remains focused on providing critical prevention and safety services during this time - helping agricultural operations navigate the pandemic to ensure the safety of their workers.

Agri-Food Workplace Protection Program

Through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (the Partnership), the federal and provincial governments have launched the Agri-food Workplace Protection Program to help agriculture producers and provincially licensed meat processors enhance health and safety measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

Funding is available for initiative such as:

  • Purchasing personal protective equipment
  • Implementing frequent and thorough cleaning and disinfection
  • Redesigning workstations and worker accommodations

Funded Consulting and Training

Under this program, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) is providing funding to Workplace Safety and Prevention Services to help farmers and other agri-food businesses provide safe workplace, and improve effective management of the risk of COVID-19 for:

  • Provincially regulated abattoirs, meat & food processing facilities
  • Agricultural producer operations such as farm, greenhouses and horticultural production operations, livestock production operations and field/cash crop production.
