How to disable pop-up blockers

What are the benefits of eLearning?
For most working Canadians, learning about occupational health and safety is not only a benefit - it's a legislated requirement. Here are some reasons why many companies prefer eLearning as a way to train their staff, managers and supervisors:

  • No Schedule. People can learn at their own pace, and at their own convenience.
  • No waiting. The training is available on demand, 24/7.
  • Progress evaluation. The multi-learner license includes reports on the users taking a particular course, and how well they're doing.
  • Money spent wisely. Every training dollar goes to actual training instead of airfare and hotels.
  • Consistency of training.  Everyone receives the same information and the same high standard of training.

For a description of the currently available courses, please visit the eLearning overview page.

What is an LMS?
ELearning is the online delivery of training with real time tracking of training results, optimizing time and reducing costs associated with traditional learning methods. An LMS (Learning Management System) is a learning software designed to deliver, track and certify eCourses and training. ELearning courses, or eCourses, are the actually training product that typically run on a Learning Management System, an LMS.

What is SCORM?
SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) is a set of technical standards for eLearning software products; it governs how online learning content and Learning Management Systems (LMSs) communicate with each other. SCORM tells programmers how to write their code so that it can "play well" with other eLearning software.

Let's take DVDs for example. When you buy a new movie on DVD you don't need to check to see if it works with your brand of DVD player; that's because DVD movies are produced using a set of standards. The same goes for eLearning. If a module is created to SCORM standards, it will play off on any LMS.

Are the eLearning courses available in French?
Yes, most of WSPS' eLearning courses are available in English and French. For more information on the French versions of the course, please visit the eLearning overview page or Français topics page.

What are the payment options?

  • Credit Card (We accept: Visa, MasterCard and American Express)
  • Invoice (Credit Terms need to have an approved Credit Approval Form.)

As most online systems, payment by credit card is required to complete your purchase and gain immediate access to your course. Credit card is the preferred method of payment, however WSPS also offers an alternative payment option such as Purchase Order (PO); this option will be added to your account once you have gone through WSPS' pre-approval process. Once pre-approved, the option to pay using PO will be added to your account.

I have a pop-up blocker installed. Will this cause any problems?
Yes. Pop-Up blockers prevent windows from opening automatically. They can be useful to prevent the spontaneous appearance of annoying and inconvenient ads, however, the blocker will interfere with the eLearning courses. Please continue reading this FAQ section for information on disabling pop-up blockers.

I have purchased a single user access to one of your eLearning courses. When will my access expire?
90 days from the enrolment date.

For multiple user corporate subscriptions, access is for 365 days.

Having completed my single learner access to one of your eCourses, I would like to arrange for several of my colleagues to take the eCourses as well. What is the best way to proceed?
A single learner account is only used if you wish to purchase the learning and take the eCourse yourself. If you wish to purchase the eCourse for someone other than yourself, then you need to need to have a multi-learner account which can be selected when placing a new order and selecting option multi-learner account.

My company is considering purchasing eCourses and enrolling multiple users. Is this possible?
Yes. When ordering multiple licences, a multi-learner licence account will automatically be set up for you. Once you log into your account, a link to an administrator manual will be provided to you.

Is there an eLearning Discount for when customers purchase multiple licences?
WSPS has a discount structure for customers who are purchasing multiple learner licences at the same time. This discount will automatically be added to your order in your shopping cart for you to see. Your cost saving will be calculated below your total.

Multi-seat pricing is based on the single user seat price (see eCourse page) with the following multi-seat discounts. Discounts are applied to selected training as indicated in course descriptions. Not all eCourses are eligible for volume discounts.

WSPS Discount Structure:

Total Seats
100 - 499 25%
500 - 999 50%
1000+ 80%

We have our own LMS, can your courses be put on our LMS?
Yes, this is possible! Our courses are SCORM compliant and have the ability to be played off of any LMS.

Are there any fees associated with putting it on our own LMS?
Please contact our eLearning experts at customercare@wsps.ca for details.

What do the courses look like?
The courses we offer are all delivered in a player designed to keep with our branding. An example of the look and feel of our courses is:
Accident Investigation:

Canada Labour Code, Part II: An Overview:

All communication regarding your eLearning purchases will be done via email.  Once you have purchased a course under a Learner Account, you will receive three emails:  one from WSPS confirming that you have registered your account on WSPS, one confirming your purchase, and one from Vubiz, our eLearning partner, confirming your enrolment in the course and access information.

If you purchase courses under an Administrator Account, you will also receive two emails: one confirming that you have registered an account on WSPS, and one confirming your purchase.  When you enroll learners, an enrolment email will automatically be sent containing their login and password via email.  This is why it is important that everyone you enroll has a unique and valid email address.  A Client Administrator Handbook is available in the 'My eLearning' area.

How long does it take to complete an eCourse?
The length of time needed to complete the course depends on the individual learner. Some people will try to complete the course in one session, where others will take the course over a longer period of time. The estimated time to complete the eCourses is indicated in the descriptions of the courses. Visit our E-Courses section and select the title of the course you are interested in to find estimated time to complete.

When I register to take an eLearning course, do I receive a manual in the mail?
No, there are no printed manuals available as part of the eCourses. You can, however, print various screens from the courses. To print a currently active screen, click CTRL-P (Windows) or Command-P (Macintosh).

Are there any tests in the eCourses?
Yes, each of the eCourses has a final examination. Note that not all eCourses have final exam. Free trial ($0) eCourses do not have exam.

Will there be any problems if I start taking the exam and have to leave my computer?
Yes, if you start the exam and then leave for 30 minutes or more, the system will time out your session and you will receive a failing grade for that attempt. You will also be timed out if you are in the eLearning course module and leave your computer. To begin again, log back into the eLearning course.

Do I receive anything when I complete the course?
When you pass the examination, by receiving an 80% grade or higher, a new screen will appear displaying a certificate for successfully completing the eCourse. You can print the certificate directly from your Web browser.

What happens if I don't get 80% the first time I take the examination?
If you do not receive a passing grade the first time you take the examination, you will have 2 more opportunities to take the examination. Questions in the examination are randomly generated from a question pool, so you may not get the same questions the next time you attempt the examination.

I have passed the examination. Do I still have access to the eCourse?
Yes, you will continue to have access to the eLearning course until your subscription period expires. Please note that you will not be able to access the examination again once you have passed.
