The Ministry of Labour (MOL) and Workplace Safety and Prevention Services (WSPS) are joining forces to assist small manufacturing firms (employing 50 or fewer persons) in achieving compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations. This is the second year of the Ministry's Small Manufacturer's initiative. The Ministry has been holding seminars for small businesses throughout Southern Ontario covering topics such as the Internal Responsibility System, Machine Guarding and Lockout, Worker Awareness Training, and the Role of a Supervisor. These seminars recognized the unique needs of small manufacturing firms and proved to be a valuable learning experience for participants.
As part of this initiative the MOL will be conducting random proactive workplace inspections at small manufacturing firms in the coming months. To assist you in preparing for these visits WSPS and the MOL are pleased to present a Webinar on the subject of the Internal Responsibility System and Workplace Inspections.
This live webinar, featuring Ministry of Labour and WSPS speakers, will help you understand the focus of the initiative, recognize major risks in small manufacturing businesses and prepare for MOL workplace inspections. Highlights include:
Most common hazards and risks to manage in small manufacturing businesses.
Value of an effective IRS and workplace inspections in preventing injuries and illnesses.
What to expect when an MOL inspector visits.
Helpful support, resources and assistance from WSPS.
The webinar will be of interest to small business manufacturers (up to 50 employees), particularly those located in southwestern Ontario.
This is a complimentary, pre-recorded one-hour webinar with PPT slides. After registration, you will be delivered an email confirmation containing instructions on how to view the presentation.
Initial broadcast date: Thursday, December 10, 2015.
