Mental Health in the Workplace: Working with the National Standard

Mental Health in the Workplace: Working with the National Standard
NEW! Obtain practical assistance to develop a sustainable psychological health and safety action plan and implement mental health strategies within your federally regulated workplace.

18055  Training

The National Standard on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (the Standard) was launched in January 2013 to promote employees' psychological health and prevent psychological harm due to workplace factors. However, one in five people in Canada experience a mental health issue in any given year.

Mental health is an essential aspect of overall workplace health and safety and organizational health, yet few organizations are properly equipped to manage it. Studies has consistently shown that workplaces with a positive approach to psychological health and safety are better able to recruit and retain employees, have enhanced productivity, are more creative and innovative and have improved employee engagement.

Description

This series of six monthly ½ day facilitated sessions helps federally regulated organizations move from awareness to readiness, enabling them to implement strategies to improve psychological health and safety (PHS).

Our trained experts facilitate these sessions utilizing proven methodology to enable like-minded organizations to work together and learn from their collective experiences. Engagement includes access to evidence-based workshop tools, templates and exercises designed to build and develop a sustainable PHS action plan.

Developed by Workplace Safety and Prevention Services in collaboration with Ottawa Public Health and the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
