Workplace Safety & Prevention Services announces the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors.
“The WSPS Board is delighted to be welcoming these new members who represent the energy and achievement of Ontario's business community”, says Board Chair Normand Cote. “The experience and skills of our new members complement the strengths of our current Board and will assist us as we look towards WSPS' future."
The WSPS Board is committed to meeting health and safety challenges in new and innovative ways that will impact millions of safety-minded Ontarians. These individuals bring a broad range of business skills and experience to the table.
On June 25th the WSPS Board of Directors welcomed the following new members:
Chris Young, Vice President, Hydroelectric and Thermal Projects, Ontario Power Generation
Dr. Young has a diverse background in the electricity generation business with Ontario Hydro and its successor OPG. His experience spans the Nuclear Generation, Hydroelectric Generation, Thermal Generation, Corporate Finance, Energy Markets and Business Development industries. Dr. Young is also a member of the Board of Directors of Portlands Energy Centre.
Eric Preston, Osborne Group Consulting
Mr. Preston is an experienced public sector executive with extensive corporate services experience and specialized expertise in aligning human resources strategies with organizational objectives. Mr. Preston started his public service career with the Province of Manitoba, and over the past 15 years has been a senior executive with Ontario Hydro, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) and was most recently VP Human Resources and Organizational Development at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
Peter Gregg, Chief Operating Officer, Hydro One Networks Inc.
Mr. Gregg is the Chief Operating Officer at Hydro One Network with accountability for all aspects of planning, engineering, designing/building and all operations of transmission and distribution systems. Peter leads a workforce of over 5,000 employees and is responsible for a budget of more than $2 billion. Prior to his current role, Peter held various senior-level roles at Hydro One and at Canada’s largest airport, Toronto Pearson, during its major infrastructure development phase. Peter also previously served on Parliament Hill as a senior advisor to Canada’s federal Minister of Transport.
In the fall of 2012, WSPS also welcomed Jon Johnson to the Board.
Jon Johnson, Attorney
Mr. Johnson is a retired partner of Goodmans LLP and currently practices law as a sole practitioner. He began practicing law over 40 years ago and his practice has covered a broad range of legal disciplines, including residential and commercial real estate, mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate law, the privatization of several Crown corporations and aircraft leasing. He is the Honorary Consul General of Iceland in Toronto.
