Yasir Naqvi, a member of the provincial legislature for Ottawa Centre, has been appointed Minister of Labour by Premier Kathleen Wynne. Naqvi takes over from Linda Jeffrey, who has been appointed Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Although this is Naqvi's first Cabinet post, he already has experience working with four Ontario ministers. He has served as the parliamentary assistant to the ministers of Finance, Community Safety and Correctional Services, Revenue, and Education. Prior to winning his first election in 2007, Naqvi practiced international trade law with Lang Michener LLP and Flavell Kubrick LLP.
