Nominations are now open for Canada's safest employers of 2015. Launched in 2011, this award program recognizes companies from all across Canada with outstanding accomplishments in promoting the health and safety of their workers.
The program offers awards in 10 industry-specific categories, ranging from hospitality to mining and natural resources. Companies are judged on a wide range of workplace health and safety elements, including employee training, OHS management systems, incident investigation, emergency preparedness and innovative health and safety initiatives.
Recent additions include:
a Wellness Award recognizing companies with excellent programs in place to support an employee’s overall well-being
a Psychological Safety Award recognizing companies that are committed to employee mental health and are working towards implementing the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.
New awards for 2015
These two awards have been added to the roster:
Young Worker Safety Award, to be handed out to a deserving company with exceptional programs for keeping workers under age 25 safe on the job
Canada’s Best Health + Safety Culture Award: The top award of them all! This award recognizes an employer that exceeds traditional health and safety practices by its impact on a broader community dimension beyond their workplaces. WSPS and Canadian Occupational Safety Magazine are working in tandem, with involvement from the CEO Health + Safety Leadership Network, to develop nomination criteria. These criteria will be announced at WSPS’ Partners in Prevention 2015 Health & Safety Conference & Trade Show, April 28-29 in Mississauga.
All winners will be recognized at a gala event in Toronto in October.
