Work smarter, Not harder
Ergonomics is about understanding one's physical abilities and limitations in their work environment. But ergonomics is more than just comfortable chairs. It also includes human factors such as working hours, mental workload, and workplace culture and communication. If gone unrecognized, poor ergonomics can lead to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) or repetitive strain injuries (RSIs).
MSDs or RSIs are injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which includes the muscles, tendons, and nerves. MSDs occur in the workplace when the demands of the job exceed the capabilities of the worker.
There are many things companies and employees can do to recognize and reduce the hazards of MSDs. As a starting point, consider getting advice from a qualified ergonomist. They can help prioritize your needs, isolate specific hazards and offer solutions to ensure your staff are working smarter, not harder. After all, Work Shouldn't Hurt.
