Partners in Prevention 2016 trade show: breaking solutions for emerging hazards

Mar 03, 2016

PIP trade showWSPS' Partners in Prevention 2016 Health & Safety Conference & Trade Show stands out as the largest annual event of its kind in Canada, but for trade show visitors what does this really mean? "Walk through our doors and you enter a whole new world of solutions," says WSPS tradeshow and sponsorship specialist Kristina Toomey.

The April 26-27 event, taking place in Mississauga, ON, draws 4,000 attendees to over 60 sessions and 400 exhibits. The trade show floor alone encompasses 100,000 square feet of ideas, expertise and opportunities. "Nothing like this exists anywhere else in Canada," says Toomey.

She describes the trade show as a microcosm of the prevention world. "The 400 exhibits are really the core of the show." With over 50 categories of exhibitors - everything from air quality control to fall protection, machine safeguarding, and health and safety management software - you'll find state-of-the-art products and services that respond to every possible health and safety issue, as well as experts standing by to answer your questions.

"We're all being challenged with health and safety issues that didn’t exist just five years ago," says Toomey. "The trade show is an incredible opportunity to explore these new frontiers by asking questions, trying out new products, and studying the latest prevention solutions."

Complementing the exhibits of products and services are these unique features:

  • bookstore with shelf-loads of books, manuals, guides and other health and safety resources, many available at special "WSPS Partners in Prevention" prices
  • Healthy Living Centre
  • Distracted Driving Pavilion - new this year!
  • At Heights with Honeywell Pavilion (watch for more on this in the April issue of WSPS Network News).

Healthy Living Centre

This year's pavilion, sponsored by Cargill Canada, responds to a wide range of health and wellness priorities. Here's a sampling of what you’ll see:

  • Dr. Adam Moscovitch, presenting on how to combat fatigue in commercial drivers, shiftworkers, and others
  • TV's Chef D, offering demonstrations of simple, easy and incredibly tasty recipes to make at home (check out his cookbooks at the bookstore)
  • ListenUP! Canada, Ontario's largest hearing aid provider, presenting and hosting a booth.
  • Laughter Yoga, offering a demonstration by certified laughter yoga teacher Lynn Himmelman and hosting a booth

There's lots more, including a massage chair lounge with up to six chairs, courtesy of Better Lounge Company. A great place to rejuvenate so you can enjoy even more of the trade show.

NEW! Test your skills at the Distracted Driving Pavilion

Courtesy of a Ministry of Transportation (MoT) Road Safety Community Partnership Program grant, the pavilion features a 400-ft interactive distracted driving course, complete with golf carts. After proceeding through the course, fill out a survey on what you saw or didn't see. Learn more about distracted driving and related resources from pavilion exhibits, including CAA, OPP, MoT, and the Worker Road Safety Reference Group, comprising a number of workplace health and safety stakeholders.
